This statistic makes inspirational reading and even the sheer number of current internships available in both large and small companies underlines the importance of them, how they are perceived by employers and the value they bring for interns.

The benefits of an internship

Internships are a prevalent means for students or graduates to acquire work experience in their preferred field and initiate their professional journey. Irrespective of the stage of an individual’s career, internships offer numerous benefits to kickstart one’s professional trajectory. This article explores some of the primary advantages of undertaking an internship.

Renewable energy recruitment industry exposure

Our internship helps create exposure to the world of renewable energy recruitment. It provides an opportunity to learn from experienced headhunters which will help encourage Sam to learn and develop new renewable energy recruitment skills.

Getting work experience is an essential aspect of starting your career as a young graduate and Sam will be able to use his new skills and transfer them to his future career, which is an excellent addition to his CV. Aside from gaining renewable energy industry knowledge, people skills are just as important for Sam. He will be developing a collaborative work ethic and learning how to be a team player.

As part of his internship, we will set tasks so that Sam understands how to work under pressure, and why deadlines matter. An internship gives you exposure to the challenges of a work environment and having experience of these situations will be useful to talk about in future interviews and show employers that how you will be a good fit for their company.

Renewable energy recruitment knowledge

The aim of our internship is to help influence the way Sam sees the world of renewable energy recruitment and it will prepare him for his next steps in his renewable energy recruitment career.

One of the most valuable benefits for interns is the opportunity to learn from industry professionals. This presents a chance to gain insight into their job functions and level of job satisfaction, as well as to ask pertinent questions. The team at JLER are extremely supportive and as part of his internship we will offer him bespoke training as well as taking him to industry events across Europe.

Ideally, once our interns have completed their degree, our aim is to offer them a full-time job, just like Edward Harris achieved.

Renewable energy industry networking

An internship is an experiential learning opportunity that offers an invaluable chance for students to network and develop crucial professional connections before they even graduate.

Sam will build his LinkedIn contacts and develop his network. This will enable him to understand how people work, get their tasks done and how to overcome challenging situations. Interacting with a wide variety of people will help Sam understand how to work with different people in various work environments and he can apply this knowledge and adopt what he learns to his working day.
